Celebrating Witchy Season
It’s so quiet over here, 👻 The usual practice of screaming and scaring is happening on the other side of the country and I’m working to find a new normal with 2 kids at home instead of 3. I’m still looking for the “extra” time that fewer kids and fewer clients bring. I know it’s there. But working through all the things that have had to wait till I had more time is taking longer than I would like 🤣
As we slide into October and Halloween-themed things, I hope you find the time to do the things you have been putting off or the things that just had to wait while life happened.
Below you will find witchy season resources and things to help you plan and work with the people you care for to reconnect and tell their stories.
Things to Read, Listen to, or Watch During Witchy Season
The Legacy Recorder is a website dedicated to helping people work with others to cataloge and archive people’s memories, stories, and legacies. It's a place to navigate how to work with someone else to capture all of the things that make up who a person is and decide what to do with that story. We believe that everyone has a legacy, no matter how big or small, and we're here to help you figure out how to capture it.

Storytelling Activity I’m Loving for Witchy Season
We love dressing up and playing pretend in my house, and with Halloween coming up, it’s a great time to talk about our stories related to this fun holiday and all that goes with it.
Spark some themed storytelling with those in your care with these prompts:
- What’s your favorite Halloween costume you ever had?
- What would you be for Halloween this year if you could be anything?
- Did you ever go to a Halloween party or Haunted House? Did you like it? What was it like?
- What’s the strangest game you’ve played on Halloween? (Like bobbing for apples)
- If you were to get only one candy in your trick-or-treat bag, what do you wish it was?
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Halloween storytelling and activities and witchy season themed adventures. There are many games, stories, costumes, and traditions that can be explored with those you love. Don’t be afraid to get creative and have some fun! With a little imagination, Halloween can always be full of joy for everyone in your family.
I hope these resources this Halloween facilitate a time of connection, memories, and stories that will be cherished for years to come. Happy storytelling!
What now?
Looking for that thing to help you keep your storytellers engaged and talking? For the writers in your care, this journal will keep them talking for a good long while. Encourage them (if they can) to reach out via phone or video to family members and share the memories they write about.
This journal was designed for storytellers in their sunset years who are ready to write about and share their memories. Simple to use and elegant enough to keep around to remind you of them long after they are gone.
